Fort Bend Family Promise (FBFP) at Abiding Faith Baptist Church

The group above represents the beginning of our partnership with Fort Bend Family Promise. This organization provides shelter, meals and comprehensive support to families without homes.

In 2019, led by Dea. Allen & Vernice Shelton, Abiding Faith joined Fort Bend Family Promise in its mission to meet the immediate needs of families experiencing temporary housing insecurity while empowering them to regain self-sufficiency. In partnership with other faith organizations, Abiding Faith committed to provide food and in-housing quarterly for specified families. Covid’s appearance interfered with the in-house shelter; however, since 2020, AFBC provides home cooked meals to the shelter and hosts guests in person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during host week. In lieu of providing in-housing, our church family generously makes quarterly ($1500) donations to assist in meeting this obligation. Members also donate very gently used clothing and household goods.

Along with serving food, the Food Service ladies made adorable little expressions of love goodie packets for the children of our families.

It is our blessed privilege to serve God by serving our community, and we thank God for the opportunity. Remaining host weeks of 2025 are May 5-10; August 3-9; November 2-8. To God be the glory as we “minister to the needs of the community.”
